School Anxiety -
A Talk For The Home & Heart
Recent events have left us all rattled. School’s out for the summer but what happens when September rolls around?

Join us for a free talk on Wednesday, June 22 at Noon Central. Register below.
There has already been a lot of anxiety tied to school – from homework and tests to being called on by the teacher and bullying. Plus, changing schedules and concerns about contagion. Add to that the most recent school shooting and many families are dealing with an overwhelming degree of anxiety around attending and participating in school.
“While school shootings remain rare, there were more in 2021 — 42 — than in any year since at least 1999. So far this year, there have been at least 24 acts of gun violence on K-12 campuses during the school day. The count now stands at more than 311,000 children at 331 schools”...who have been exposed to gun violence.
Join us for a conversation around the sources of anxiety as well as effective ways to address it.
Let’s discuss:
- Resiliency and absorbency.
- The long-term effects of traumatic events.
- The volume of stressors a child experiences and the ability to digest them.
- How to talk to children about traumatic events.
- Navigating your own emotions as you support your child in navigating theirs.
- Practical, actionable tools you can use right away and throughout the school year.
Our focus is on the home and the heart. We will not touch on policy or politics.
