How does the morning go at your home? Is it smooth sailing or total chaos? If you’re like most families, it’s at least a little bit stressful.
In this video, I’ll share 3 proven strategies you can use to have an AWESOME day. Every day is a new day, a fresh start. How you start your day will impact the rest of your day.
Here's an overview:
#1 – Start Your Day With Purpose
You’ve likely heard of “Start with WHY.” This is just as important for your family as it is for a big business. Do you have a clear purpose for heading out the door (or to your desk) each morning?
Maybe your child has a big heart and you can appeal to their opportunity to connect with friends and be there for them when needed. Or, you may have a big thinker who can get excited about something they’ll discover in their day…but only if they get out there in it. With a bigger vision about why they are heading out the door, kids have a greater sense of personal engagement with the day.
#2 – A Good Morning Starts The Night Before.
Another proven strategy is to start pulling ONE thing from your morning routine and get it done the night before. Make this a habit and then pick a second thing. It may be laying out clothes, preparing snacks or have the pet’s food dishes clean to save one more step in the morning.
The main reason for doing this is so you have time for the most important proven strategy – The AMR!
#3 – The Awesome Morning Routine.
It takes about 6 to 10 minutes (don’t gasp, you’re creating time for it with the last strategy). The purpose of the AMR is to regulate the nervous system, release stress and reduce the chances of anxious feelings in the day. See why we call it the “awesome” morning routine?
One mom in our community felt she had no time in the morning for anything “extra”. After a retreat including a deep dive into the Anxious to Awesome™ tools, she had an epiphany that changed her life – by changing her morning routine. She now devotes more than an hour each morning to the practices she knows she needs to be the best mom she can be. The kids, she discovered, can take care of themselves during this time.
Another family started implementing the family dance party before school and it helps to set a fun relaxed vibe versus just focusing on getting out the door to make it to school on time.
